What is something small business owners have to deal with that you want to fix?
Marketing is sort of a vague term. When too many people use the word for too many different things, it starts to lose its meaning. I want to make developing a marketing strategy a very clear, transparent process.
I want clients to know exactly where their money is going, and show them exactly what benefits they are getting from Enable.
If we make marketing an open and honest system, clients benefit because they see the return which marketing is giving them, and we are held accountable to helping our clients’ businesses succeed.
What are your credentials/past experience, for working in your position?
I joined Enable while still a senior in college, with some sales experience (making cold calls selling advertising space in a magazine) but no marketing experience.
I love working in a small business, because of the greater freedom and responsibility to try new things and build something worthwhile.
I’m approaching my second year at Enable, and I’m learning new things in the job all the time.
What do you do at Enable?
I am the Director of Marketing for Enable, and am the account manager for many of our clients. I execute their individual custom marketing strategies, manage their SEO and site edits, oversee advertising efforts, and provide reporting and analytics on a monthly basis.
It’s important to me that clients are answered within an hour of contacting me, preferably with answers to their questions.
Our clients don’t just pay for marketing techniques; they pay for access to a personal, friendly account manager who’s a part of their team.
What do you like about working at Enable?
I love the small business feel, and the opportunity for both personal and professional growth. Our team at Enable is very smart and very fast at what we do.
This makes for an environment where I can learn from the expertise of my colleagues, while and always be challenged to perform at the same level. I love it.
What’s your background?
I grew up on a mountain near Scranton, Pennsylvania (home of ‘The Office’). Despite pressure to work for Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, I went to Christendom College in Virginia, and moved to Virginia during my senior year.
While at Christendom, I played rugby and met my fianceé. After we’re married, we’ll stay in Virginia. In my junior year, I called Jeremy up for a random reason, and he offered me a job. I’ve been here ever since.
He won’t let me leave.
Not that I want to, either.
What are the values that drive you?
I am passionate about taking responsibility for your actions and having complete honesty with yourself and others.
Never bring up a problem without offering a solution, and never lie to anyone (especially yourself) about why you act the way you do.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
When I’m not at work, I love spending time with my fianceé and family, reading, and thinking about business ideas.
We love watching Breaking Bad and This is Us in our free time, and we’re eager to explore every old estate and museum in the DC Metropolitan area.
